Many young women and the occasional young man make their way to tanning salons every week in British Columbia.
Minors that enjoy their weekly fake and bake could soon be banned from tanning beds across the province. Health Minister Mike de Jong announced Monday that there will be regulations very soon regarding the use of tanning beds to minors.
The Provincial government is currently deciding on two courses of action: one being complete prevention of minors in tanning salons, the other being parental consent required before using the beds.
This proposal comes in wake of recent increased skin cancer cases in teens reported by the Canadian Skin Cancer Association. There is no current deadline for the ruling but the decision is expected in the coming months.
