Fursona

Produced by: Amanda Eyolfson, Tara-Lee Novak, Andrew Vacheresse, Mike Walker and Leanne Yu (runs 7:00)

On the surface, A.J. is not your typical young person. She is a Furry. Defined by Wikipedia as someone who ascribes anthropomorphic animal characteristics with her own personality, A.J., like many others in Vancouver’s Furry community feels most, in her own skin, while wearing an Avatar-like fursuit.
Take a thoughtful and at times delightful trip beyond the fursuit in Fursona – a short documentary produced by second year BCIT Broadcast Journalism students.

Nominated for a Broadcast Educators Association of Canada (BEAC) national journalism award, Fursona offers an insightful glimpse into the life of a Furry and the circumstances that allowed her to find her inner ‘fursona’ and the unique challenges she and her pack-mates face while out in the world.
