Young women across North America will be convening today to bare some flesh in the name of women’s rights. They will be gathering in large groups and wearing provacative tops. The movement was started by Jen McCreight, a student at Indiana University, in response to remarks made by an Iranian Cleric.
Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi, Tehran’s acting Friday prayer leader said, “Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes.”
McCreight says she wants to test the cleric’s theory and is offering her breasts in the name of science. She started a Facebook group urging women around the world to join her. That group has now grown to more than 52,000 members.
A Vancouver BoobQuake event will take place at the Art Gallery between 4pm and 8pm. Evolution 107.9FM’s Megan Evans will be on hand to provide coverage at the scene.
